Unfortunately, Sophos joins the list of companies forced to announce layoffs employeedue to the ongoing economic uncertainty around the world.
"Sophos today announced an internal restructuring resulting in job losses and the start of consultation periods that will potentially affect 10% of employee our," the antivirus company reportedly told TechRadar Pro.
Sophos said achieving the “optimal balance of growth and profitability” is the main reason for laying off employees as the company tries to shift its focus to the managed detection and response of business .
The layoffs are said to affect about 10% of Sophos' workforce (about 450 employees). The number doesn't sound that big compared to other companies (18,000 employees will be laid off by Amazon), but it's one of the largest layoffs. Most tech companies have announced cuts of 5-10% of their workforce.

Like many others, Sophos is struggling due to the difficult macroeconomic environment. Salesforce be laying off 10% of its employees, and there are rumors that Marc Benioff, the company's CEO, may make even more staff cuts.
Microsoft also recently announced mass layoffs .
Throughout 2022, many companies announced layoffs, and it appears that this trend is continuing in 2023.
