Google reportedly working on creating its own version of AirTag , according to developer and leaker, Kuba Wojciechowski.
Apple first introduced AirTags in 2021, although they weren't very popular at first. Thanks to this small device, users are able to track belongings their. It can help find lost items, such as glasses, keys, bags and everything else. Now, Google is reportedly working on a very similar location tracker.

Wireless trackers are nothing new, and companies like Tile have been developing these types of accessories for years. Even Samsung has released its own SmartTags.
According to Wojciechowski, however, there are indications that Google is now working on an AirTag-like technology . The developer claims to have discovered reports that suggest the company is working on supporting locator tags in Fast Pair, Google’s method for quickly pairing nearby Bluetooth devices . In a Twitter thread , he said that Google is developing its own first-party tracker. The device is said to be codenamed “ Grogu ” and is being developed by the Google Nest team.

Wojciechowski suggests technology could come in a variety of color options and feature a built-in speaker that would allow users to find their lost items using sound, in the same way that Apple's AirTags do.
Wojciechowski also claims that the “Grogu” trackers could support Bluetooth LE and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. Google’s Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro support UWB connectivity, but its implementation has so far been limited to features like Nearby Share.

If the rumors are true, Google could announce AirTag-style tracking tags alongside the new Pixel at the I/O Developer Conference in May.
