At CES 2023, TW Electronics unveiled its new remote control design – a remote control that mirrors the layout of the classic Google TV remote, but with an additional photovoltaic panel at its base. This feature allows for automatic battery charging, in order to provide users with a long-lasting device!
Using advanced light sources, Exeger's technology converts this energy into electricity and stores it in the remote control's battery. This new concept is not entirely new to the sector - however, power remains unmatched.

Just recently, self-charging remote controls have been released by brands such as Samsung. And rumors say that Amazon is incorporating this technology for the upcoming Fire TV remote. Strangely, however, Google TV devices have not yet provided users with such a remarkable convenience.
Although there is currently no definitive release date for this automatic charging remote control. The G10 model from TW has been widely released during the past year and has already appeared in many streaming boxes and dongles that use both Android TV and Google TV, however its upgraded version – the G20 – is not yet as well known.

As competition in the streaming continues to escalate, some brands may be interested in this self-charging remote control - however, it may not become a widespread option for all devices in the near future.
