Next week, Google Chrome will stop providing technical support and security support for Windows 7 users.
Google originally intended to end the support offer in July 2021. However, due to the pandemic resulting in more families relying on older computers and laptops, Google decided to extend the deadline until January 2023.
A Google Chrome support manager has made it clear that Chrome 109 will be the last version to offer support for Windows 7 and 8/8.1 . From now on, only those running Windows 10 or later will be able to use the latest versions of Google Chrome – with a tentative release date of February 7, 2023 for Chrome 110 .

Microsoft creatorof Windows, officially ended support for Windows 7 in January 2020. To ensure that their devices remain ready to receive future updates from Chrome, users should update their operating system to at least Windows 10 or a later version.
Windows 7, released twelve years ago, has been surpassed by three subsequent versions of the operating system in recent years.
A few years ago, Microsoft estimated that over a billion devices were running Windows 10 – the latest version of the tech giant's standard operating system.
It's notable that Windows 7 remains a popular operating system, with over 100 million computers worldwide still using it according to ZDNet from last year.
Google made an announcement that users of older versions of Chrome will still be able to use the program, but unfortunately no further updates will be released for these types of operating systems.
In November 2020, Max Christoff, engineering director at Google Chrome, revealed that although many organizations had already planned to migrate to Windows 10 during the year, 21% remain in progress as new priorities have taken their place on the business list.

“In recent months, investment in IT and digital transformation initiatives has skyrocketed for many companies, but other organizations may have been forced to put their planned projects on hold,” Christoff.
It is important for all Google Chrome users who are still using an older version of Windows to upgrade their software before the outage takes effect next week. Failure to do so could expose them to threats such as malware, viruses, and phishing attacks. Additionally, any websites that require new web standards supported by newer versions of Chrome may not work properly or at all if accessed with an outdated version of the browser.
