Gmail and Google Chat users can update their availability status directly from the navigation pane. Both the desktop and Android versions of this app come equipped with this feature. Not only can you create a custom status, but there are also three default options. These include Automatic (based on activity) , Do Not Disturb , and Out of Office .

How to change Gmail desktop availability status to Desktop
- 1. Launch the Gmail application on computer .
- 2.Click on the drop-down menu next to the search bar.
- 3. Select your online status from a range of options: Automatic, Do Not Disturb, Out of Office, or create a custom status.
- 4. Select the Add Status and enter your online availability to get started.
- 5. Select a time period during which the status will be reset.
- 6.Once you are finished, press the Finish to complete your task.

How to change your availability status for Gmail on Android
- 1. Launch the Gmail app on device .
- 2.To access the dashboard, tap the three horizontal lines menu located in the upper left corner.
- 3.To enable the feature, select On from the drop-down menu.
- 4.From the drop-down list, select the desired connection status.
- 5.After selecting the “Add Status” option, make sure you have entered your online availability.
- 6. Select the time period after which the status will change.

- 7.When you are finished, click the finish button located in the upper right corner.
