Twitter is relaunching its subscription service Twitter Blue, starting today, allowing users to access more features and the familiar verification badge.

The company announced the relaunch of Twitter Blue via a tweet posted on December 10. Since Elon Musk, there has been a lot of talk about Twitter Blue and the changes he wanted to bring. There had been reports of the service launching earlier, but in the end there were delays. According to Mashable, these delays may be related to the social networking platform's attempt to find ways to fee App Store Apple's (a fee that the app store imposes on in-app purchases). To offset this fee, Twitter charges Twitter Blue for $8 per month on the web and $11 through its iPhone app.

Recently, Twitter owner Elon Musk spoke out against Apple over its fees and Twitter's ad shutdown . He also accused the tech giant of planning to " remove Twitter from its App Store ." However, he later met with Tim Cook and was given a tour of Apple's campus in Cupertino, and their relationship appears to have improved.

In a Twitter post, Musk informed the public that Tim Cook has no plans to remove the social media platform from the App Store. He also clarified that there is no issue with the ads.

With the revamped Twitter Blue service, users will be able to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, access reader mode and, of course, the coveted blue verification badge. Of course, Twitter will review accounts before granting them the verification badge and will remove the blue badge and re-review Twitter Blue accounts whenever they change their handle, name or photo . The announcement did not specify what makes an account ineligible for the blue verification badge.

One change coming with Twitter Blue, announced a few days ago, is that account verification will now be a little different. Musk said the platform is rolling out three different types of verification: a gold verification check for companies, a grey check for governments, and a blue verification check for individuals, celebrities and otherwise. Musk also said at the time that all verified accounts would be “manually validated” before the check would appear on a profile.
