HONOR has announced a brand new version of its Android OS, MagicOS 7.0, for the Chinese market. The global launch is scheduled for Q1 2023, just ahead of the launch of the HONOR Magic Vs later today.

HONOR renames 'Magic UI' to 'MagicOS'
MagicOS 7.0 is the updated version of Magic UI 6.2. You will notice that HONOR has decided to rename 'Magic UI' to simply 'MagicOS'. What improvements can you expect to see?
Several things have changed, as some UI elements have been revamped. The icons are different and flatter than ever. HONOR is also using a new font called HONOR sans, which is used throughout the UI.

The Honor MagicOS 7.0 update brings larger folders to your home screen, as well as new widgets.
New home screen updates give users more control with larger folders and customizable widgets. Updated video editing capabilities will also be a useful addition for many users.
HONOR also offers file transfers under a new name, “MagicRing.” This will allow you to transfer files, clipboard items, and so on, between MagicOS devices and HONOR laptops and tablets.
A split-screen keyboard will be available for use on foldable devices.
The new MagicOS 7.0 features a split-screen keyboard for the HONOR Magic V and the upcoming foldable model. With this update, you will also get the “Magic Text” feature that is able to recognize text in images and allows you to scan and save that text as a PDF.
HONOR OS Turbo X promises faster app loading times and offers greater system-level power optimization . It also features “MagicGuard” to protect against system , privacy and financial threats .

A global variant of MagicOS 7.0 will likely be officially released in Q1 2023.
HONOR has also shared a list of devices that will receive the update in China. It should be noted that this is just a list of devices for the Chinese market – a separate list for global offerings will be available when MagicOS 7.0 is released globally.

Specifically, MagicOS 7.0 will be based on Android 13 for users around the world, however in China it may come “packaged” with Android 12 – although we are not sure.
