The October SMR for Galaxy devices fixes more than 50 vulnerabilities. Samsung’s official monthly security bulletin lists fixes for one critical and about 30 high-risk vulnerabilities discovered in the Android operating system and patched by Google. In addition, Koren patched 18 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) this month. These are privacy and security threats that only affect Galaxy devices. The SVEs patched this month include a critical issue that allowed unauthorized access to secure memory. Samsung has not disclosed details about some of the patches for security reasons.
If you're using a Galaxy S20 FE LTE or Galaxy S20 FE 5G and haven't received the October update yet, you probably won't have long to wait. As always, the update will be rolling out in batches, and availability will vary by market. You should receive a notification once the update package reaches your device. You can also go to the Software update section in the Settings app and tap Download and install to check for updates manually. If you don't see any updates, check back in a few days.
