The latest update for Chromebooks introduced a feature that alerts users when the USB-C cable they are using is not good enough.

Starting with Chromebooks using Intel silicon that feature USB4/Thunderbolt 3 capabilities, users will be notified if the cable doesn’t support USB4 or Thunderbolt or simply can’t handle the required data rates. For example, a warning says that external displays need cables to support 5 Gbps transfers.

“To enable a USB4 connection, replace the cable with a Thunderbolt 4 cable or a USB-C cable with a SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps performance rating or higher. Make sure the replacement cable packaging has one of these certified logos,” one of the warnings.
The Chromebook update also includes the ability to resize the magnified portion of the screen when using the docked magnifier, and the Cursive is pre-installed on all Chromebooks that use a stylus.
“If you write a sentence that fits better in a different part of the page, that’s no problem — easily move it by circling the content on the page and dragging it wherever you want,” Google said.

“Didn’t perfect your drawing enough the first time? Erase it by writing over it with your stylus. And if you want to add more notes at the top of the page, just draw a horizontal line and drag your content down to free up more space.”
The company said it will soon allow users to customize the thickness, style, and color of the stylus stroke.
