" With this new cross-platform coverage, threat and vulnerability management capabilities now support all major device platforms across the organization – spanning workstations, servers, and mobile devices ," Microsoft explained
Vulnerability management for Android and iOS allows administrators to reduce the attack surface of mobile endpoints and, as a direct result, increase their organization's resilience against incoming attacks.
«Threat and vulnerability management in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint continuously monitors and detects affected devices, assesses the relevant risks in the environment, and provides intelligent prioritization and built-in workflows to seamlessly remediate vulnerabilities.»
The new feature allows organizations to discover, prioritize, and remediate software and operating system vulnerabilities more easily on Android devices.

This announcement comes after Defender for Endpoint's threat and vulnerability management feature became generally available for macOS devices a year ago, on February 2, 2021.
This is part of a broader effort to extend the security platform's capabilities across all major platforms so that security teams have an ally in defending endpoint users through a unified security solution.
For example, in June 2020, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint added support for more platforms beyond Windows. A year later, it also included support for macOS as part of a limited preview.
A month later in July 2020, the endpoint security solution was updated with a Microsoft Secure Score for Devices to assess the collective security configuration status of devices on corporate networks. It can strengthen the security of an organization's endpoints through recommended actions.

As of October 2020, Microsoft's enterprise endpoint security platform also provides administrators with reports that help them monitor vulnerable Windows and macOS devices, including vulnerability severity levels, exploit availability, vulnerability age, and vulnerable devices by operating system.
