Amazon has had a big year with Fire TV, selling 150 million Fire TV devices worldwide, announcing its own Fire TV devices and the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max. But it has even bigger plans for 2022.

Amazon is bringing Fire TV to your car. Fire TV for Autos is something Amazon wanted to do right. Amazon says it focused on four key promises. That includes the content you expect, the same experience you know and love, Discovery, and controls and built-in systems.

While Fire TV for Autos is still in its early stages, Amazon has already struck deals with Chrysler and Ford. It will be available as an option on the Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and Chrysler Pacifica, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.

Trying to get automakers to put Fire TV in their vehicles will be difficult for Amazon, as those automakers already have their own services and desirable features in their cars. However, Fire TV believes it has the expertise to create integrations with each car company and incorporate audio systems and convenience controls that are tailored to the needs of the brand and customers.

Obviously for Amazon, Alexa is a core part of the Fire TV experience. And that’s likely the big factor driving Amazon to bring Fire TV to Autos. To get Alexa into as many vehicles as possible. Amazon wants to make it easy for a passenger or parent to use their voice to quickly find a show or app from within the car while they’re driving.
