The White House on July 4 urged companies that believe their systems were compromised in the ransomware attack targeting software vendor “Kaseya” to immediately report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center .
Anne Neuberger, deputy national security adviser for cybersecurity and emerging technology, said: “As of Friday, the United States government has been working across the country to assess and assist in the response to the ransomware attack targeting Kaseya. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are working with Kaseya and coordinating outreach to affected victims.”

The infamous REVil ransomware has hit a wide range of IT companies, while also breaching hundreds of corporate customers late last week. The hacking gang behind the ransomware, believed to be operating from Eastern Europe or Russia, targeted a major software vendor known as “Kaseya.” The company’s products are widely used by IT companies, cybersecurity experts said.

On July 3, US President Joe Bidensaid that the US government is not sure who is behind the attack, but has instructed federal agencies to respond to it.
