Of course, to prevent users from tracking other users, Apple implemented a feature that would alert users if an unknown AirTag followed them for more than a preset duration. However, we soon learned that someone could easily bypass this security measure if the person being tracked doesn’t have an iPhone with iOS 14.5 or later. Even though Apple pushed the software update to most of its devices, it still doesn’t have an app to notify Android users if an AirTag tracks them. Fortunately, Apple has now announced that it is developing an Android app that will help users locate unknown AirTags.

According to CNET, Apple will release an Android app later this year, further enhancing the privacy and security of AirTags. In addition, the company plans to make some changes to the amount of time it takes for AirTags to play an alert when they are separated from their owner. Apple has already started rolling out an update that changes the amount of time it takes for an alert to play when tracking another person. Previously, AirTags would play an alert three days after tracking an unsuspecting person. But with the update, the alert will start playing at a random time within an 8-24 hour period.
