iPhone 13 release date
Apple is keeping the iPhone 13 release date for September as usual. Due to the COVID-19, the tech giant has experienced some production delays. As a result, the iPhone 12/12 Pro and iPhone 12 Mini/12 Pro Max release dates have been pushed back to October and November 2020, respectively.

However, Ming-Chi Kuo, a prominent Apple analyst, claims that the iPhone 13 will not be delayed in production and will be released in the normal timeframe. Therefore, you can expect release by the end of September 2021.

What does the iPhone 13 look like? iPhone 13S?
According to a report by Mark Gurman published in Bloomberg, the iPhone 13 series will not have significant design upgrades, as many 2020 iPhones have been released. He says that Apple engineers consider the iPhone 13 to be an “S” upgrade: This is a designation popular with models that have always had minor changes compared to the previous model.

However, Japanese site Mac Otakara claims that the newer iPhone 13 will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 12 by 0.26mm.

  • Smaller notch

According to Mac Otakara, the iPhone 13 will feature a smaller notch. Popular leakster Ice Universe also confirmed this in a tweet. A recent report from DigiTimes explains that “the new design integrates the Rx, Tx, and flood illuminators into the same camera… to allow for smaller notch sizes.”

  • Won't it have a lightning port?

There have been rumors that Apple is ditching the Lightning port starting with the iPhone 13. Gurman says people at Apple have discussed removing the port in favor of wireless charging. Even Ming-Chi Kuo said in 2019 that Apple would offer a “completely wireless” iPhone without a Lightning connector in 2021.

For those who don't know, Apple introduced the MagSafe wireless charger in the iPhone 12 and removed the charging brick from the box. If Apple is serious about removing the port, it might have to significantly improve the charging speed of the MagSafe wireless charger. It should also include the MagSafe charger in the box.

  • Camera upgrades

Apple is rumored to be replicating the iPhone 12 Pro Max camera upgrades across the entire iPhone 13 lineup. In other words, the 2021 iPhones will also feature the 12 Pro Max's new camera sensor, sensor-shift stabilization, and LiDAR scanner.
All iPhone 13 models (except the iPhone 13 Pro Max) are expected to get a major camera upgrade.

DigiTimes also reports that the iPhone 13 will have an improved Ultra-Wide camera lens. Kuo has also backed up this claim. The Pro models will also use a larger image for the main camera, which will improve image resolution.

iPhone 13 specifications

  • Touch ID on the screen

One of the biggest features of the iPhone 13 could be the addition of an in-display fingerprint sensor. There have been many rumors about this support in the iPhone 13.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the iPhone 13 will use an optical in-display sensor, however, Ming-Chi Kuo said the next iPhone will feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. Gurman also said that the in-display fingerprint sensor will be one of the key upgrades for the 2021 iPhones.

The iPhone 13 leaks also say there are no plans to remove FaceID. According to Gurman, FaceID is still useful for camera and augmented reality (AR) features.

  • 120Hz display

The highest refresh rate will become a reality on the iPhone 13, thanks to the LPTO OLED display supplied by Samsung. Early rumors about the iPhone 12 Pro models indicated that all would come with 120Hz technology, however, that did not happen. Now, the rumors of a 120Hz Pro Display have returned again, this time for the iPhone 13.

Apart from that, the iPhone 13 will definitely feature the standard chip upgrade, from A14 to A15. There are also rumors that the next iPhone series will support Wi-Fi 6E. A leak suggests that the 2021 iPhones will feature up to 1TB of internal storage.
