As announced, Zoom has begun rolling out an update that will provide support for Apple 's new M1 processors .
In the release notes for the new Zoom software for Mac, published by 9to5Mac, it appears that it was scheduled to be released on December 21. The company says that this version brings support for Apple Silicon processors.
Specifically, the notes state that this version of Zoom offers “better support” for computers with ARM. Zoom says that a new, separate installer will be available for download from the Download Center . However, it appears that this installer is not yet widely available.

Other new features brought by this update include improved non-verbal feedback, better organization of security features, and support for text messages.
Apple M1 Macs can run the current Zoom desktop client for macOS without any issues, but it will likely be slower and have higher power consumption than the native version for M1 processors.
Zoom was a hugely popular way to video chat during the previous COVID-19. That makes this update especially important for owners of new Macs. In November, Apple launched the first Macs with its own ARM-based silicon chip called the M1. These new computers, an M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, can run apps built for Intel Macs via Rosetta 2 translation, but native apps, written specifically for M1 processors, will typically work better.
