WhatsApp is gaining more and more fame as one of the most used mobile messaging apps worldwide, with more users signing up for it every day, and it has become the target of many malicious actors.

All messaging platforms have their pros and cons, and WhatsApp is no exception. Fraudsters use OTP tricks to gain illegal access to WhatsApp accounts and steal users' personal data
Victims of this attack may receive a WhatsApp message from an unknown number or a friend's number claiming to need help. They may then ask you to forward the OTP to them, claiming that it was sent to you in a text message by mistake .
If you receive any such message, DO NOT share your OTP or continue the conversation with the scammer/ hacker, as this could give them full access to your account.
How will you secure your account from hackers?

To stay safe from this OTP scam, you can enable two-factor authentication on WhatsApp. Apart from that, the user should ensure that he does not share his OTP or any other private or sensitive information with anyone through WhatsApp.
Follow these steps to secure your account:
STEP 1: Open WhatsApp and then click on the three dots in the top right corner.
STEP 2: Tap on Settings and then on Account.
STEP 3: Now select two-factor verification.
STEP 4: You will get an activation option. When you activate it, you will be asked to enter a 6-digit code sent to you via WhatsApp.
STEP 5: WhatsApp will ask you to enter the pin twice, followed by your email address.
STEP 6: Once you confirm your email address, two-step verification will be enabled.
STEP 7: You also have the option to disable or change the password using the same steps.
