It probably comes as no surprise to any iPhone owner that they can use the LED flash on the back of their iPhone as a flashlight. Apple has included the shortcut in Control Center since iOS 7.But did you know that you can control the brightness of your iPhone's flashlight? Here's how.

First, launch Control Center on your iPhone using one of the two methods mentioned here:
- iPhone X or later: Swipe down from the top right edge of the screen.
- iPhone SE and iPhone 8 or earlier: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
When Control Center appears on your screen, press and hold the flashlight icon

After holding the icon for a while, you'll see a new screen with a flashlight icon at the top and a large slider in the middle. The top section means maximum flashlight brightness, and the bottom section means the flashlight is completely off.

To change the brightness of the flashlight, slide your finger up and down along the slider. Or simply tap the section that corresponds to the level you want. Be careful, brighter settings will drain battery faster.

When you've set it how you want, tap the screen once and the slider will disappear, but the flashlight will remain on. To turn the flashlight off, launch Control Center again (if necessary) and tap the high-light icon

The next time you tap the Control Center flashlight icon to turn it on, the last brightness setting you set on the slider will default.
Now you might be wondering: If you can manually adjust the flashlight brightness, how bright is it normally? By default, your iPhone's flashlight turns on at the lowest setting, which Apple probably sets to preserve battery life.
