How to uninstall Microsoft Edge from Windows

Microsoft has been making huge efforts lately to promote the new version of Edge based on Chromium on the Windows operating system .

Edge

However, many users are not particularly happy with this tactic, since it is a browserthat is not necessarily desired by everyone. And while Microsoft has installed it "by force", it also does not allow its uninstallation. However, there is a way to get rid of the browser.

If you've decided that whatever browser you've chosen for your web browsing is the right one for you, it makes perfect sense that you're not interested in installing Edge on your device . For that reason, you don't need to listen to anything Microsoft asks you to do or not do.

The company has decided that if you manually installed Edge, you can uninstall it (although there's no guarantee it won't be pushed to you again), while if it was installed via Windows Update, the option to get rid of the browser isn't available in Settings. However, you can go to Command Prompt.

  • Click the Start, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt , and select Run as administrator.
  • Type C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\83.0.478.58\Installer and press Enter.
  • Type setup.exe –uninstall –system-level –verbose-logging –force-uninstall and press Enter.

Once you complete the above process, you will find that the new version of Edge has disappeared and the old, non- Chromium- is available again.
