Xpeng: Which models were upgraded and how?

Tesla 's Model 3 rival , the Xpeng P7 , has just received an upgrade, and it's changing the score between the two. But in which direction? Electric vehicle company Guangzhou Xiaopeng Automotive Technologyrecently released an update "Over-The-Airfor the model , which improves its efficiency " P7 .

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the three variants of the Xpeng P7 electric car have been upgraded in terms of driving range.

Note that it has an electric range of 438 miles, which is much higher thanModel STesla's

Another Xpeng electric car that has upgraded its battery is the “P7 Super Long-Range Smart”, also with a larger battery than the Tesla Model S. It now has a battery range of 416 miles.

Of course, in both cars the battery is measured using the "NEDC" cycle, which is less accurate than the "EPA" cycle, which Tesla uses in its electric cars.

The list of Xpengs that received the upgrade includes: Long-Range Standard, Super Long-Range Smart and Performance Smart. However, the increase for each is not the same, ranging from 6 to 11 miles.

  • Long-Range Standard: The increase it received was about 11 miles and will now reach 364.
  • Super Long-Range Smart: It will now have a range of approximately 416 miles, as opposed to the 408 miles it previously had.
  • Performance Smart: This Xpeng model only got a boost of about 6 miles. However, with this upgrade, it will now have a range of 342 miles.

According to a report by InsideEVs, Xpeng has credited the upgrade to the “X-Pedal driving mode,” which has also improved the performance of the regenerative braking system.

As with Tesla, this was done via an OTA update. Additionally, the company said it also optimized the system P7's battery management, which in turn helped with better power distribution and efficiency.

For now, the P7 electric passenger vehicle is only available in China, with the next stop being the American market. The priced starting at RMB 2,29,900, approximately 28,230.
