GCam (Google Camera): How to install its features on Android

Developers have managed to bring the Google Camera ( GCam ) app from Google Pixel devices to Android devices ! Now, even non-Pixel users will be able to use the Astrophotography , HDR+ , Pixel Iconic portrait modes , and many more.

What made Google Pixel devices famous is the powerful capabilities of their camera. While the camera software plays a very important role, behind the incredible photos of the Google Pixel is the GCam application.

Currently, there are many GCam ports for Android available online, each with their own pros and cons. One of these ports, which has gained immense popularity in recent months, is “UltraCVM”.

UltraCVM GCam promises to offer additional stability and improve qualitycompared to other GCam ports. Another benefit is that it includes all the features of the camera Google Pixel, as it is based on version 7.0 of the ports.

Included in the list of these features is support for multiple image sensors and additional options such as "Tone Curve", " Gamma Curve", "Exposure Compression", and more.

The question that remains, however, is: How do you install UltraCVM GCam on an Android smartphone?

The answer is very simple, as the UltraCVM installation process is no different from those of previous GCam ports, all you have to do is follow the steps below.

  1. Download the latest UltraCVM v4.1 APK, from here.
  2. When the APK file has been downloaded to your device, you find it in the file manager and install it.
  3. If you see the pop‑up message «Allow installation from unknown sources», select «Accept».
  4. Find the GCam icon in the apps folder and click on it.

You can also use the configuration file, which will allow your new camera to be configured according to your device. This will avoid any bugs and glitches in the application.

To activate it, go to the settings file on the UltraCVM v4.1 website . Locate your device > download the requested XML file . When the installation is complete, go to " Internal Storage " and create a Settings folder in GCam. All you have to do then is transfer the downloaded settings file there . When you enter the application it will be ready for activation, by selecting the settings folder > Restore .
