Microsoft is being asked to address complaints from users regarding the new File Explorer. Specifically, Microsoft has released new optional updates for Windows 10 1903 and 1909, to address a large number of bugs that appear in the new File Explorer. The updates are available via Windows Update or Microsoft Update, the catalog , and WSUS.
The new update aims to address complaints expressed in 2019 regarding the new Search box in File Explorer, which many described as useless. This is due to the fact that the box displayed a text cursor, but without the ability for users to click inside the box or type inside it. Microsoft made changes to improve the search of File Explorer by running it in Windows Search. This way, users would be shown search results from the content of their computer or from the internet that would be displayed in a drop-down menu.
The new updates for Windows 1909 and 1903 include two major fixes for bugs found in File Explorer search that many users have complained about.
One of the bugs prevents the search bar from pasting clipboard content with a right-click, while another bug prevents the File Explorer search bar from receiving what the user wants to enter.
Microsoft is implementing several changes to improve Windows 10 1903 and 1909. Among the changes are improving the accuracy of Windows Hello, and changing the custom tile order in the Start menu when the layout is locked.
Microsoft also identified the following bugs:
- A bug that closed the touch keyboard every time a key was selected.
- An error in games involving many players.
- An error occurred when disconnecting a USB C flash drive from the computer.
- Incorrect indications for offline and online files.
