Teen in court for cryptocurrency theft and SIM-swapping: An 18-year-old Montreal teenager will be in court charged with a felony related to SIM swapping and the theft of $50 million targeting cryptocurrency holders.
Teenage hacker Samy Bensaci is accused by Canadian authorities of being part of a gang that stole millions of cryptocurrencies from Americans and Canadians.
Among the many alleged victims were well-known Canadian crypto entrepreneurs and authors of the ebook “The Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin Is Transforming Money, Business, and the World.”
Bersaci was arrested in Victoria, British Columbia in late 2019. The following month, he was released on bail of 200,000 Canadian dollars and was banned from accessing any internet gadgets and consoles , as well as possessing or exchanging any type of cryptocurrency.
