One of the most ambitious features we've seen in recent years in Windows 10 is Sets. In fact, rumors have recently flared up again about the feature, as many speculate that Microsoft could bring Sets to the 21H1 update.
These rumors started circulating when Italian blog Aggiornamenti Lumia spotted some references to Insider build 19480 and others in Windows Language Packs from the Microsoft Store. The findings were shared on Twitter by user WalkingCat, who asked whether or not Sets would be released in build 19481.
WalkingCat's tweet was quickly met with a response from Brandon LeBlanc, who is the senior program manager for Windows Insider and summarily dismissed any hopes for the Windows 10 feature. However, he did confirm that there are newly released Insider builds.
Previously, we've seen early versions of Windows 10 Sets in RS5 builds. The feature brings the tabbed interface to Windows 10, where users can use different apps just like tabs in a web.
But in June 2018, the company removed the feature from the Insider, saying it would work on it to improve it. The chances of the Sets feature launching with 20H1 were slim, and now LeBlanc has also denied the rumor about 21H1. So all we can do is wait.
Releasing an incomplete feature, which actually aims to change one of the core functions of Windows 10, does not seem to be a move that Microsoft would like to make.
It's very likely that Microsoft is trying to develop the Sets feature to a level where it can be released to the public without any problems. The release delay doesn't seem surprising, considering Microsoft's very poor track record with Windows Updates over the past two years. The last two updates had so many flawsthat the company was forced to pull them and re-release them.
