Dell Technologies will launch new devices with PowerProtect DD, the next generation of Data Domain storage devices. In addition, the company is adding new capabilities to its existing cyber recovery product and Dell EMC PowerProtect Software.
The updates are intended to address the company's growing security needs. Notably, earlier this year, Dell EMC's Global Data Protection Index found that organizations used 9.7 petabytes of data in 2018. Compared to 2016, that's a 569% increase.
As Ruya Atac-Barrett, vice president of Data Protection Marketing, said, data protection is very important and the problem will never go away, but will continue to grow. She also emphasized that organizations are called upon to come into contact with more applications and endpoints.
Dell Technologies will now be releasing three new appliances on September 30th. The DD6900, DD9400 and DD9900. The portfolio also includes the Dell EMC Data Domain Virtual Edition and the Data Domain DD3300, which have been rebranded as the Dell EMC PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition and Dell EMC PowerProtect DD3300.
Additionally, the portfolio includes up to 38% faster backup and up to 36% faster restore. It also provides instant access and instant restore of up to 60,000 IOPS for up to 64 virtual machines, as well as support for 25 GbE and 100 GbE network speeds.
Dell Technologies' PowerProtect DD portfolio provides deployment in minutes. The new devices are compatible with software , which the company released last April. This software provides support for EMC Cloud Disaster Recovery.
