Windows 10 version 1809: Microsoft announced yesterday that the current version of Windows 10 (1809) is now available for businesses. In other words, Windows 10 version 1809 is now available through the Semi-Annual Channel.
It should be noted that Microsoft will stop using the term Semi-Annual Channel from Windows 10 version 1903 onwards.
Windows 10 feature updates are released twice a year through this channel. Then, after a few months, they are considered ready for general release, and Microsoft announces the fact by promoting each release to the Semi-Annual Channel.
To put it bluntly, the company lets its millions of home customers try each new version of Windows 10 for quite some time before making it available to Businesses.
Microsoft updated the announcement page for this version of Windows 10 to highlight the change. Recall that Windows 10 version 1809 was a very problematic update, perhaps the most problematic update since the first release of Windows 10 in 2015.
Microsoft had to stop distributing the update due to very serious errors being presented to its customers.
Why did Microsoft make the announcement at this point? One theory is that Microsoft had to do it before announcing the next major release of Windows 10 (version 1903).
It is of course noteworthy that this announcement came just five days before the release of the next major version. It clearly shows the disorganization that the problematic development of Windows 10 version 1809 brought to the company's release planning.
Microsoft is expected to announce the RTM of the next major version of the Windows 10 operating system very soon, as according to the company's schedule, it will be released in April 2019.
