What's the most annoying feature of Windows Update? If you thought about the restarts, Microsoft has some surprises in store for you.
Soon, Windows Update may be able to restart your computer immediately after each update instead of waiting for an opportune moment..

It sounds ridiculous, but it's one of the latest features that Albacore (@thebookisclosed) has mentioned on Twitter.
He's also told us about several other new Windows features before Microsoft officially announced them, like the Windows Sandbox . Hopefully, Microsoft is just testing this feature, and we'll never see it in a "stable" version of Windows.
The good news: The feature is optional. If you want, you can use a new setting to add notifications that let you know when Windows will automatically restart your device.
“Windows Update promises to always notify you and give you the opportunity to postpone the restart.”
However, if you've been away from your computer for a few minutes, you might come back and see that your computer is in the startup phase because you missed the countdown.
This feature is of course confusing us once again. Who asked for it? Windows already performs restarts quite quickly after updates, using features like Active Hours to restart when you're not using your computer.
The latest versions of the operating system even use machine learning to detect whether you are using your computer before restarting.
Who asked for Windows Update restarts to be more aggressive? Even Apple's iPads don't have the aggressive restart option for automatic updates.
The next major update to Windows 10 will include a new system tray icon that will notify you when you need to restart. So the above feature is probably unnecessary.
If we do eventually see this feature, it will likely be part of the next version of Windows, codenamed 19H1, which is set to be released in April 2019. Hopefully, Microsoft will change its mind by then.
