Windows 10 October 2018 Update (build 1809) seems to be in the final stages of development, and Microsoft is focused on fixing bugs and improving performance before the official release of the operating system next month.
This means that the next builds that will be released for Insiders will not include new features.
The upcoming Windows 10 build 1809 operating system will bring many new features, such as Cloud Clipboard and a dark theme for File Explorer, but at the same time it will also bring some improvements that are supposed to fix features that bothered us in older versions.
One of them concerns the Windows 10 update process, as for many years, the operating system decided the start time of the update regardless of whether you were using your computer.
The above behavior has been experienced by many. Windows updates interrupted all users' work for a necessary restart. So Microsoft has addressed the issue and it seems that with the upcoming version, the update process will be less annoying.
Microsoft has reportedly focused on reducing the time it takes for a system to be offline to complete an update installation, by doing as much work as possible when it is online. This means that Windows 10 will do more preparatory work before requiring a restart.
But the upcoming Windows 10 October 2018 Update (build 1809) will bring additional improvements to the same issue, The new operating system will use machine learning and a new technology to prevent unexpected restarts.
From a technical point of view, what Microsoft promises to do in Windows 10 October 2018 Update is based on a new update model that can predict and determine the right time to complete the update installation process.
“We trained a model that can accurately predict when it’s the right time to restart your device. This means that we won’t just check if you’re using your device before restarting, but we’ll also try to predict if you just left your device to get a cup of coffee and plan to return soon,” the company says.
Obviously, training this system to be 100 percent accurate is no easy feat. But using machine learning technology, the feature will only get better over time. The company says that internal testing has been successful so far. Let’s wait and see what happens when it goes live.
The Windows 10 October 2018 Update is set to be rolled out this month, and Insiders will get the RTM build over the next two weeks.
The public release of the operating system will begin in October and will be phased in.
