Pat Riehecky has announced the release of Scientific Linux 6.10, the final build of the Red Hat-based distribution. This version will be supported until November 2020. 
It should be noted that the CentOS and Scientific Linux distributions use Red Hat as their base. The latest version of both forks closely follows the RHEL version, which is currently at 7.5.

The version we are publishing today (Scientific Linux 6 build 10), as we mentioned above and you can see in the image above, is the last version of 6, as it will continue to be supported until 2020.
Scientific Linux 6.10 i386/x86_64 is the final release of EL6, with major security fixes and critical bug fixes. Please run yum clean expire-cache. More changes since SL 6.9:
The distribution uses the Scientific Linux 6.10 repositories, OpenAFS has been updated to version 1.6.22.3.
Changes compared to Enterprise 6: httpd changed the default index.html to remove Red Hat branding, Plymouth has removed red colors, and all redhat logos have generally disappeared. Changed the background, GDM and KDM have changed their tradedress style, Anaconda has added Scientific Linux. DVDs no longer ask for a network connection unless needed, redhat-rpm-config has been changed to recognize Scientific Linux as Enterprise Linux.

The new version of the distribution is available as a full 5.8GB ISO or as two smaller DVD (ISO) images.
