Panasonic has done some serious work with its latest OLED TV , which was unveiled at CES 2019. The luxurious Panasonic GZ2000 is a TV with a number of cutting-edge technologies. However , while the main focus was on the TV's unique ability to support Dolby Digital and HDR10+ content, it was the sound that was even more impressive!
Panasonic has managed to fit some amazing speakers into the back of the TV, in a surprisingly discreet way. The speakers are amazingly powerful and are what you need for Dolby Atmos. Panasonic has put a lot of thought into how to improve its OLED TVs.
Display: Fantastic graphics
Panasonic has equipped its panel with its own processors, adding an updated HCX Pro Intelligent processor and algorithms, to give you the best possible quality.
It significantly reduces blur around a fast-moving object, such as a person on a motorcycle.
There are also big improvements in brightness, with Panasonic reporting a 30% increase. That, combined with OLED's natural tendency to be bright, and the GZ2000 is a joy to watch anything on this screen.
Two more variants of the GZ2000 were also created: one that shows content in HDR10+ and the other in Dolby Vision.
Supporting both HDR formats means you don't have to choose one over the other to watch decent HDR content. The TV thankfully also supports the older HDR10 format.
Sound: Simply epic
You can't reach cinematic heights without decent sound, though, and the Panasonic GZ2000 offers you that and more.
The sound is clearer and more accurate and gives the impression that you are experiencing what you are watching.
It's important to note that this particular demonstration at CES wasn't showcasing Dolby Atmos, but Panasonic's own sound field that reproduces the audio for use by the speakers.
The Panasonic GZ2000 OLED TV series will launch this summer, in 55- and 65-inch sizes, with pricing to be announced later.
