Instagram: Share Stories with your Close Friends

Instagram on Friday announced the launch of a new feature, “Close Friends,” as reported by The Hindu. Through the latest feature, users of the photo and video social networking service can now share stories with a smaller group of people.

This feature is located on the user's profile in the side menu. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, has about a billion users, and using this feature, users can share stories exclusively with the smaller groups of friends they have created.

Instagram, in a statement, said: "If you're on someone's close friends list, you'll see a green ring around their photo in the Stories bar and a green indicator when you view their stories.".

Facebook is focusing on Instagram, its fastest-growing revenue driver, as the social networking site's core platform has come under scrutiny from regulators who want to strengthen privacy safeguards, combat social media addiction and crack down on misinformation and fake news.

Following the departure of co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in October, Adam Mosseri was appointed as the head of Instagram.

Memeburn said on Monday (December 3) that the feature had gone live: “Starting today, you can create a list of your Close Friends and share Stories with the people you’ve added to the list,” Instagram said on its blog.
