The data of almost all banks operating in Pakistan was recently hacked in a massive cyber breach, the Federal Bureau of Investigation report says.
The FIA revealed the attack after ten banks suspended all international transactions from their cards, Geo News reported.
"According to a recent report we received, data from almost all Pakistani banks has been hacked," Mohammad Shoaib told Geo News.

Shoaib revealed that the FIA has informed all banks and called a meeting with the heads and security management team of all banks affected by the security breach.
"Banks are the custodians of the money stored in them," said Shoaib.
A cybersecurity website, krebsonsecurity.com, said that the details of more than 8,000 customers of about ten Pakistani banks are being sold on the dark web.
However, the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) has dismissed reports of data from ten Pakistani banks. The PBA spokesperson said that the IT security of a bank is compromised and apart from that, no breach has been reported.
“It is important to understand the difference between fraudulent transactions and attempted hacking. Fraudulent transactions can be successful without the bank being hacked,” the spokesperson said.
“When a checkbook or a slip of a passbook is lost, it can be used by fraudsters to steal money. Similarly, if a credit or debit card is lost or stolen, it can also be used in fraudulent transactions,” he added.
