As we have reported in the past, Microsoft's new mobile device codenamed Andromeda is expected to see the light of day in 2018. A new source comes to add another piece of information about the device's specifications: Andromeda will be powered by a new processor Snapdragon 1000 .
Andromeda is an ambitious project by Microsoft that will combine the best features of laptops and tablets along with phone calling features.
And while a lot of information has leaked in recent months, very little has been said about the hardware that could power the mobile device.
In addition to the dual-screen design, it appears that Andromeda could be powered by a Qualcomm, which will be called the Snapdragon 1000.
The Snapdragon 1000 is a new project from Qualcomm. The interesting thing about it is that it will not only be aimed at Andromeda but also at desktops. This means that there are many possibilities for Microsoft to collaborate with Qualcomm on future products.
Some of the products that could feature the Snapdragon 1000 are Surface devices that will run Windows 10 on ARM and benefit from extended battery life.
As usual, no specifics are given, but if all these projects go ahead as planned, Andromeda could debut very soon. A low-cost Surface is also expected in 2018, possibly in the fall. However, more information is expected in the coming months as we get closer to the supposed release dates.
