The iPhone X is Apple's best offering in the smartphone business today, but that doesn't mean it's also customers' favorite model.
Data provided by the American Customer Satisfaction Index shows that the iPhone 7 Plus is actually the number one smartphone in the United States, with a score of 85 points.
While it's surprising that the iPhone 7 Plus is at the top of the charts, it's also worth noting that this particular model managed to outsell not only the iPhone X, but also all other Android devices on the market.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus was the second runner-up in the chart with 84 points, followed by the Galaxy S8 with 83 points. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are next, with 83 points. The anniversary iPhone X is far behind with just 80 points, even behind the iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note 5. Samsung's Galaxy S9 was not included in the charts because it was released this year.
As for companies, Apple remains the preferred manufacturer for Americans with a total score of 81 points, so essentially nothing changes compared to the previous year.
“Among the largest manufacturers, the leaders remain unchanged. Apple maintains the lead with a stable score of 81 points, followed by Samsung which is unchanged at 80. Motorola rises 4% to 79. LG also improves, rising to 77 points. HTC remains unchanged at 76,” says ACSI.
Apple will unveil three iPhones later this year, as well as a successor to the iPhone X. A more affordable 6.1-inch iPhone is also coming, and it has the best chance of becoming America's new favorite given its low price .
