Notch and AI aren't the only buzzwords in the smartphone world. Blockchain has also gained traction, as it seems to represent the future for some manufacturers. And HTC seems to be one of those manufacturers, after officially announcing that it's working on a blockchain-powered smartphone.
Called the HTC Exodus, this Android smartphone will come with a universal wallet, secure hardware support for decentralized and secure applications.
The company's website calls it "the world's first phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security." The phone is also expected to allow for the trading of digital currencies without any mining fees.
The website also lists eight important features of the HTC Exodus:
- Reliable hardware
- Large number of protocols
- Universal Wallet
- Reliable UI
- Save ID and data on the phone
- DApps on mobile
- Functioning the phone as a node of Ethereum and Bitcoin
- Exodus user forum
There are currently no official images of the phone, but the company has shared some designs, which can be seen below.
HTC Vive founder Phil Chen will spearhead the blockchain initiative. His new title will be “decentralized chief officer.”.
We still don't know what price the upcoming Exodus phone will be priced at. It will be interesting to see how HTC plans to handle this.
