Yesterday with the publication Internet Health Test: Are they stealing our Mbps? we examined the speed provided by some ISPs, and we received various comments on social networks. So, in continuation of that publication comes today's. Which internet service providers in Greece are overdoing it?
Because the goal is not to make conjectures. We will examine which internet service providers block the P2P traffic on your line. Some providers use technical measures to block BitTorrent traffic for all their users without making special efforts to distinguish between users who use BitTorrent for legal purposes.
The developers of the BitTrend Azureus program created a plugin for their application, which gathers information about provider interference. The plugin attempts to expose ISPs that block RST packets. Every ten minutes, the plug-in detects from your computer the number of TCP connection resets and then displays the results to you.
These pieces of information can then be shared anonymously with a central server, which records and maintains an updated list of “Bad ISPs” informing the Bittorrent community.
What can I do?
The service states: “If you are using one of the following internet service providers, please consider finding a new, better one.”
Below is a list of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) believed to cause problems for BitTorrent users, in Online Gaming, and also for other P2P clients.
If your ISP is not listed and you have reason to believe they are modulating your line speed, you may want to consider helping others and adding the information to the list. However, before you do, make sure you have read up on what the correct settings, about NAT issues , and that your results are accurate.
