Google has given us a very big gift: the ability to browse in peace!

That's because Google Chrome blocks annoying auto-playing videos by default. The update, part of Google Chrome 66, has now been rolled out for the browser's desktop and mobile apps.
With the update, you'll no longer need to manually mute websites that offer autoplay videos. Instead, Chrome will prevent videos from playing entirely (note, however, that videos set to autoplay without sound will continue to play).
The only exception will be sites where you “have previously shown interest in the media they offer.” So you should expect sites like YouTube , where you’ve likely watched a lot of videos in the past, to continue to autoplay their videos as normal. ( You can read a more detailed explanation of how Google determines which sites are relevant to your interests over at Gizmodo .)
This also applies to mobile browsing (unless you have a website saved to your home screen), which is very convenient, as it can be much more difficult to manually locate and delete the website that is playing a videoon a mobile browser.
So now we can browse without having to turn off our speaker – Chrome finally has us covered!
