Microsoft released the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update today, but the company says it will be rolled out gradually. Based on previous major updates, it could take months before you can install the update.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, of course, as it will give Microsoft time to fix problems that the first daredevils who install the new version of Windows 10, Fall Creators Update, will encounter.
If you consider yourself brave enough and don't want to wait for Microsoft, you can install Fall Creators Update today, without waiting in the endless queue.
Before we move on, I should mention once again that it would be a good idea to wait until you are sure that the company has addressed all the compatibility issues that will be presented to end users, who I essentially consider beta testers..
If you still insist, let's see how you can install Windows 10 Fall Creators today.
There are two main options:
through Windows Update and Update Assistant and with the Media Creation Tool.
The easiest option of course is to check Windows Update to see if your update is already offered by Microsoft.
If you don't see the update
You can use the Update Assistant to help update systems immediately. It is a small program that you can download from Microsoft.
Note that Microsoft will need to unlock the program's capabilities to allow the installation of the Fall Creators Update. The version offered up until now is still for the older Creators Update.
Let's look at the next option:
The installation media creation tool allows you to create ISO images or USB Flash drives. It is typically used by IT professionals who need to update multiple devices at once.
Download the application from Microsoft and run it on the system you want to upgrade.
You will be asked to accept the Terms of Service. It has two options:
“create installation media” or “upgrade this PC now”.
The first creates an ISO image or copies the operating system files to a USB and the second will upgrade your system directly without creating any installation media.
Tip: You can also download the Windows 10 (Version 1709) ISO using the Adguard service. The downloads are from Microsoft servers.
