In late January, it was widely reported that Apple was changing its iOS software plans. It would delay some planned iOS 12 features to focus on current issues and improve quality. Given the recent bugs in iOS and iPhones, this seems like the right decision on the company's part. It will allow its engineers to have a relaxed deadline and work on perfecting features.
The latest bug in iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra allows someone to send a specific character and destroy the devices. Discovered by Italian company Mobile World, it can affect iPhones and block access to popular apps like WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook, Messenger, etc.
This character belongs to the Indian language Telugu. If someone sends the character, the iOS Springboard crashes when the message is received and the operating system tries to display it in a notification. Apps freeze even if the character is simply pasted into a text message. That's not all though, as even Apple's watchOS is affected.
However, Apple has noticed the problem and is working to fix the bug. The latest beta versions of iOS and macOS are already unaffected by this issue, which is confirmed. A future update before iOS 11.3 will fix the problem in all versions of the operating systems.
