Russia used a screenshot from the game AC-130 Gunship Simulator to prove that American troops are somehow protecting the terrorist organization ISIS.
Russia has long claimed that the US is helping ISIS, allegations that seem unfounded when America has been fighting against this terrorist organization for two years.
But now, Russia is presenting evidence that supports the view that the US is collaborating with ISIS and protecting it from Russian troops.
Their evidence was almost ready to be taken seriously until it was discovered that the images they submitted came from the game C-130 Gunship Simulator, which is not even released.
Essentially, the Russians searched for the right image, even using videos from 2015 to capture in a screenshot a piece of evidence that would not arouse suspicion.
Unfortunately for them, they underestimated the abilities of gamers who can name the game it comes from from just one image.
After the revelation, the Russian Defense Minister immediately removed the image before their fiasco spread further.
The worrying thing about the case is that over time, games become more and more realistic and very soon it will be impossible to understand whether they are images of reality or not.
