For a long time rumors have been heard that Sony is working on a new robot dog and the company has now announced the new Sony Aibo. The Sony Aibo has a new design that is based on the old model, as well as a range of new features.

The original Aibo started in 1988 and Sony stopped manufacturing the device in 2006, so this new model arrives almost 10 years after the last one that was released. As one would expect, the new robot dog is much more capable than the previous model.
The new Sony Aibo can learn from its environment and is also capable of developing relationships with its humans. It has cameras behind its eyes and can modify its behavior based on what it sees. It also comes with built-in voice recognition and can respond to sounds, commands and more.
The Aibo is especially lifelike in its movements, reminiscent of a real dog, while not having as many responsibilities as a real puppy, which certainly makes it look like a fairly entertaining robot.
The new Aibo will also be available with a range of optional accessories that it can interact with, with the first, called the Aibone, being released alongside the robot dog. As with the previous generation Aibo, this new model costs a lot of money. Its retail price is around $1,740. Sony has now started taking pre-orders for the device in Japan, which will be released in January 2018.
