Although statistics put Android at the top of preferences worldwide, it ultimately turns out that Americans love Apple products.

Specifically, according to a recent survey, more than 6/10 residents of the United States own an Apple product. 64% of Americans own at least one Apple device, including an iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, while 2.6% of American households own Apple products, up from 1.6% in 2012.
The truth is that Apple sales increase as household net income increases. The most affordable devices are usually chosen by people over 50 and families with incomes under $30,000 per year.
87% of Americans who make $100,000 a year own at least one Apple product. Specifically, residents of the West own 3.7% of Apple products and 2.2% of products in the South.
When it comes to smartphones, these statistics don't translate into a corresponding market share for Apple. On the contrary, Kantar's results for the United States show that Android reached 64.1% in the last quarter of 2017, while Apple's products reached 34.1%.
Of course, these figures could change in the next quarter, given that Apple has released the new iPhone 8 and is preparing to premiere the iPhone X. Unfortunately, however, the prices of the new models remain at the levels that every new device in the series has been, setting them out of reach for the majority of consumers.
