YouTube has changed its logo design. In fact, it's the company's first new logo in 12 years.
The new logo does away with the classic design that featured the word “Tube” on a red background. Instead, the red play button that used to be featured as the app icon now lives on the left side of the logo. Its red color is also brighter.
It may be because our eyes have been accustomed to the old logo for so many years and are still having a hard time accepting the new one, which in our opinion has lost the eccentricity of the old design. Although it looks a little more monotonous, the company claims that the change is more flexible for the multitude of devices and screens that are now available on the internet. It believes that when the screen is limited (i.e. on a smartphone), you can use the Play icon as an abbreviation for the logo, which will be easier to see and read more clearly.
YouTube 's new logo , which debuted on mobile and desktop devices today, will be coming to other apps and services "soon."
In a corresponding video presentation, the company says that in addition to changing its logo, it is also changing its appearanceand adding new features. It now allows for a dark background for better viewing, and playback with adjustable speed on mobile. Watch the relevant video below:
