BMW X2City: BMW 's new X2City foldable electric scooter is a milestone product for the company in many ways. It will be the first BMW product to be sold and serviced outside of BMW's global dealership network.
BMW has been looking to address the issue of secondary transportation in its vehicles for some time now. In 2012, it announced a foldable electric bike called the i Pedelec, but for some reason it failed commercially.
The BMW X2City, which can be placed in the back of your car, is powered by a Marquardt 408 Wh lithium-ion battery that is designed to be easily removed.
We don't know if this ease of battery removal will make it easy prey for thieves, or how easy it will be to lock the X2City somewhere on the street.
The disc brakes are high-quality components from Magura, although there is no suspension. The tires are high-profile and designed in such a way to absorb road irregularities.
The new X2City can reach speeds of up to 25 km/h and can cover 25 to 35 km on a single charge. BMW claims that its folded size is smaller than a folding bicycle.
It should be noted that BMW has been manufacturing bicycles since 1945, cars since 1929, and motorcycles since 1923.
Although the price of the vehicle has not been set yet, BMW says the X2City will not sell for less than €2,500 when it goes on sale in Christmas 2017.
