Arne Exton has announced the latest version of the ExTiX operating system, “The Ultimate Linux System,” which comes with Refracta Tools. This tool allows you to create your own Ubuntu distro.
Refracta Tools is installed by default from ExTiX 17.5 Build 170508.You can use the tool to easily create your own GNU/Linux distribution, with predefined packages and custom settings to suit your needs.
The new version, ExTiX 17.7, comes with the Budgie desktop environment and features Refracta Tools for reinstalling the operating system.
“I have made a new additional version of ExTiX with the Budgie desktop. Budgie focuses on simplicity and elegance and is designed with the modern user in mind. ExTiX is installed with the minimum packages. These are the packages you will need, even when you run the Live version of ExTiX Budgie, i.e. from a DVD or a USB stick. The four ExTiX systems are based on Ubuntu and Debian. While running ExTiX Budgie 17.7 Live or from a hard drive you can use Refracta Tools (which is preinstalled) to create your own Ubuntu system.”
More details about ExTiX 17.7 can be found in the release announcement.
