Information about the upcoming Steam Summer Sale has been leaked by PayPal UK in a recent tweet and it looks like it's coming in a few days.
PC gamers anticipate these sales every year, and what happens during the long summer months is one of the biggest. The dates for these discounts aren’t supposed to be leaked, but it’s been a long time since a Steam Summer Sale surprised us.
This is also not the first time a date that was supposed to be secret has been revealed by one of Valve 's partners , and it looks like PayPal is outdoing itself by revealing some information on Twitter.
The main reason why these dates are secret is very simple. Various deals and offers are always on Steam, but summer sales usually bring much larger discounts. This means that people can postpone payment for a game when they know there is a good chance they will become much cheaper within a few weeks.
The information regarding the 2017 Summer Sale appeared a few weeks ago when someone posted on Redding a screenshot from a developer's page about the upcoming promotion dates. It makes sense that developers are notified much earlier, and summer is here, so it wasn't a large area.
Any doubts regarding the Steam Summer Sale have been dispelled by a tweet from PayPal that announced its own promotion: get £ 5 ($ 6.3) from PayPal when you spend £ 20 ($ 25) on Steam. The tweet also reveals that the Steam Summer Sale starts on June 22 at 6 pm BST (5 pm GMT).
