After teasing 'Project Scorpio' for a year, Microsoft finally revealed the new version of the diesel engine, Xbox One X, at the E3 expo in Los Angeles today.
The machine is 4K capable and promises smooth display in full Ultra HD resolution along with HDR support. Microsoft says the powerful device will enable faster loading times and further horizons in demanding games, as well as better graphics even on 1080p displays.
The Xbox One X comes with an 8-core processor paired with a 6 teraflops GPU and 12GB of GDDR5 graphics memory in a package that's 40% smaller than the original Xbox One. It also features liquid cooling to stop noise. It has 1TB of storage, a 4K Blu-Ray disc drive, and Dolby Atmos technology to enable spatial audio.
When the console launches on November 7th for $499, 42 new game titles will be released at once, including 22 that will be exclusive to the One X. The roster includes:
- Forza Motorsport 7
- Crackdown 3
- State of Decay 2
- Metro: Exodus
- PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
- Assassin's Creed: Origins
- Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War
Additionally, the One X will support all Xbox One games and accessories. Some new titles that are classified as “Xbox One X Enhanced” will be able to take advantage of the new console’s improved processing capabilities, but will also run on the Xbox One or One S with a little less pizazz.
Let's wait for Sony's announcement...
