Google integrates Ad Blocker into Chrome

Ad Blocker in Chrome

The new built-in Ad Blocker will be introduced to the browser early next year, with Google already making it clear to advertisers that if they do not comply with its regulations, their ads may be blocked.

It may sound strange that Google intends to introduce its own Ad Blocker to Chrome, considering that the bulk of the company's revenue comes from advertising.

However, Google seems determined, as it has already begun warning website administrators and urging them to start evaluating their ads, removing those that are particularly annoying, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Although Chrome's built-in ad blocking feature will not block all ads, it will mainly eliminate those that disrupt the smooth browsing experience of users.

Google's new Ad Blocker will therefore act more like a filter than a blocker, allowing ads to appear on pages, but only if they meet certain criteria. The feature will be implemented on both desktop and mobile.

But which ads will be blocked? Unacceptable ads are determined by the “Coalition for Better Ads,” which is made up of Google, Facebook, and the News Media Alliance, among others.

Many people consider this to be a rather controversial move, as these companies will have the ability to determine how the web looks. On the other hand, it is certainly a move with many benefits for Internet users.

Websites are expected to be negatively affected, as a large part of them remain alive only thanks to advertisements.
