Pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 in South Korea surpassed those for the Galaxy S7 , reaching 550,000 units in just two days from April 7. This number surpassed the record of 400,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7, while 5.5 times more consumers said they would buy the new flagship compared to the Galaxy S7.
The Galaxy S7 sold 49 million units last year, and Samsung expects the new smartphone to surpass that record. It's no surprise that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are so popular, given that the company relied heavily on these two models after the Galaxy Note 7 was discontinued.
With its Infinity Display, Bixby virtual assistant, powerful specs, enhanced security features, and sleeker design, the Galaxy S8 certainly has all the makings to become the most popular smartphone running Android. Samsung believes that Galaxy S8 sales will boost operating profit in the coming quarters, and the company has already increased production of the Galaxy S8+ to meet the high demand.
It is worth noting that to make the new smartphone more attractive, Samsung is offering customers free headphones or a DeX Station with every pre-order. The only thing that is certain is that once the Galaxy S8 is released on April 21, more and more consumers will be interested in acquiring such a powerful new device.
