It is a fact that a few weeks ago something was released that many Windows 10 did not expect: The green screen of death (GSOD) is considered to replace the traditional blue screen of error of Microsoft's software.
The creation of a company engineer, the green screen was noticed by few users but is a harbinger of a change that Microsoft intends to introduce to its operating system. As it was revealed, the green screen was created for Insiders as the company wanted to be able to more easily distinguish the test versions from those of production.
The latest Windows 10 preview build officially introduces the green screen as according to a statement by Dona Sarkar, responsible for Windows Insiders, the purpose of the new color is to differentiate the stable from the test users.
“In an effort to more easily distinguish Windows Insiders, we decided to offer an upgrade to the error checking page by changing it from blue to green. Of course, Windows 10 builds will continue to have the classic blue color as well as the final version of Windows 10 Creators Update,” Dona Sarkar emphasized.
So what we can conclude is that the Creators Update that is raging to be released in April will retain the blue error screen since it is not part of the testing versions so don't expect to see it on your screens if you don't belong to this category.
For information, the blue screen dates back to 1993 when it debuted in Windows NT3.1 and Microsoft has not changed it since then. Therefore, the change to a green shade for Insiders is one of the biggest changes in the history of Windows.
