Yesterday we had reports from Russia about an attempted hacking attack on its financial systems, today it comes again with a new announcement and states that VTB is a target of hackers for a DDoS. Although VTB does not say which of its servers have been compromised, the bank reassures by confirming that its systems are operating normally and its customers are not at any risk. The bank's security services have already been informed and are examining the case.
If you recall, the FSS , Russia's security service, yesterday reported a cyber attack on its network by a foreign IT company that it managed to avoid. Rumors have it that the Ukrainian company BlazingFast, based in the Netherlands, is behind it. The web-hosting company, for its part, denied the accusations, stating that no strange movements have been observed on its systems. It also highlighted Russia's unwillingness to cooperate in resolving the misunderstanding. "We examined all the systems of our network and found no changes in the pattern that could lead to confirmation of the Russian side's allegations. The FSS was also able to deal with the situation," they said.
It is not yet clear whether this new attack is connected to the one yesterday that the FSS claims to have suffered. There is currently little information that has been made public regarding the attacks that Russian banks may be facing.
Let's also not forget the much-discussed attack last week in which hackers managed to extract $31 million from Russian accounts.
